5-50K Rocket Engine Test Bed

Yes Virginia, it is rocket science.

Initial shakedown of the test pad using a 5,000 lb-force liquid fueled rocket engine was literally a blast. Several critical functions were addressed from data acquisition/sequence control software to gas regulation panel fabrication and exhaust plume emissions sensing and analysis.

The engine was hot-fired several times to demonstrate the capabilities of the facility to properly and safely provide fuel and oxidizer to the engine, perform millisecond resolution sequence timing of the control valves and acquire high speed data of over 150 sensors and other parameters in the process.

The best part was the opportunity to work with some real steely-eyed missile men (Shown below).
